England take on All Blacks as Autumn Internationals get underway
England take on New Zealand for the first time following the summer whitewash in the Southern Hemisphere side’s favour, as the Autumn Internationals begin in earnest.
Stuart Lancaster’s men are 11/4 with Coral to record victory, and captain Chris Robshaw reflects on the three defeats in the summer with a new-found confidence, inspired to turn the tables.
“It’s always tough when you finish a campaign or a series on a big loss,” said Robshaw. “We came so close on two occasions, probably closer than any team has come in recent times now, but I think that has given us a huge amount of confidence.
“I think it’s put us in a great position, we believe we can and every time this England camp meets up it seems we’re in a better position than previously and hopefully this autumn will be exactly the same,” continued Robshaw, who is 9/1 to score anytime.
“Of course we do have a fair few injuries at the moment, but that allows other people to come in and we’re in a position in England at the moment where we’re extremely grateful that we have a huge amount of strength in depth.
“In every position we have two or three players who could come in at the moment and really excel and that’s what you need if you’re going to be successful as a squad, you need to have that strength in depth and hopefully that will really show this autumn.”
All eyes will be on Bath winger and England debutant Semesa Rokoduguni, who is a Lance Corporal in the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards, and has served with the British army in Afghanistan. He is 5/2 to cap his bow by scoring anytime, and 11/1 to grab the opening try.
For the All Blacks, winger Julian Savea who has drawn comparisons to legend Jonah Lomu can cause a multitude of problems for the English defence, and is 6/1 to cross the whitewash first, however New Zealand have an all-star lineup.
Not only Savea, but Ben Smith, Israel Dagg, former heavyweight boxing champion Sonny Bill Williams and Richie Macaaw have enough to run riot single-handed. Williams, is also a former rugby league player, and is great value at 5/2 to score anytime.
