NFL: Dallas Cowboys fancied to win by a touchdown over Jaguars

| 09.11.2014

Dallas Cowboys will be looking to bounce back from their current two-game SU and ATS losing streak when they take to the field at London’s Wembley Stadium as strong 7.5-point favourites over Jacksonville Jaguars with Coral.

After rocketing to a 6-1 start that took them to the top of the standings in the NFC East Division, the Cowboys have tumbled to Earth with weak performances in losses to Washington Redskins and Arizona Cardinals.

Third string quarterback Colt McCoy led the Skins to a stunning 20-17 overtime upset of Dallas in Week 8, using the long ball to connect with DeSean Jackson on a 45-yard pass, setting up a touchdown that gave Washington an all-important fourth quarter lead.

Conversely, the Cowboys have struggled without star QB Tony Romo, who suffered yet another back injury in the loss to Washington that kept him sidelined in Dallas’ 28-17 loss to Arizona last week, and leaves his status for this matchup with the Jags up in the air.

Losing Romo strips the Cowboys of their offensive architect, and the results have been telling, as Dallas have been held to a total of just one offensive TD scored in the first half of their last two games.

Without Romo, the Cowboys will be forced to rely even more heavily on RB DeMarco Murray. He has been given the ball on almost 80 per cent of Dallas’ carries this season and leads the NFL in rushing yards with 1133, including a league-record eight straight games with 100+ yards on the ground.

Another Cowboys player who could step up in Romo’s absence is wide receiver Dez Bryant. Why not back him with Coral to score a touchdown and Dallas to defeat Jacksonville in a 6/5 wincast? Please note punters, there is a maximum stake of £25 on this special bet.

The 1-8 Jaguars are enduring yet another lost season, but have provided a glimmer of hope to bettors in recent outings, going 2-1-1 ATS in their last four, including a shocking 24-6 upset win over the Cleveland Browns in Week 7.

While the Jags still sport one of the NFL’s worst overall rush defenses, they held the Browns to just 69 rushing yards. This followed holding Tennessee to 70 yards on the ground, covering the spread in both outings, and have allowed fewer than 10 points on average in the first half of each of their last five outings.

The point total in Sunday’s game is set at 45.5 in NFL betting at Coral. Jacksonville have consistently seen the total go UNDER lately, 4-1 in their last five. In Dallas, the OVER is 4-3 when Romo is healthy, while UNDER holds a 1-0-1 edge when Romo is sidelined.
