Brendan Rodgers 3/1 to go next in Premier League market movers
Following another disappointing 3-0 loss away at bitter rivals Manchester United, the odds for Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers being the next manager to leave have been cut by Coral into 3/1.
It’s been a difficult week for the Reds’ Northern Irish boss, after deflating draws at home to Sunderland and Basel, the latter costing the Merseyside club a place in the Champions League knockout phase.
Coral also offer a special market on under-fire Rodgers. While he remains odds-on at 4/9 to be in charge of Liverpool on the last day of the season, a 13/8 price says he will not be.
As a result of picking up one point from the last six in the Premier League, the Reds’ odds for a top four finish have lengthened to 5/1 (from 11/4), and it gets worse. United have shortened in the title race betting to 12/1 (from 14/1), and are now odds-on at 1/6 (from 1/4) to finish in a Champions League spot.
Louis van Gaal’s fellow Dutchman and Red Devils striker Robin van Persie has seen his price in the Premier League top scorer market slashed in half to 20/1, following three goals in two games in the past seven days. United captain Wayne Rooney, meanwhile, remains a 33/1 shot to be the top flight’s leading marksman.
Southampton’s slide is the result of four straight defeats, and that has naturally impacted on Ronald Koeman’s prospects of finishing in the top four. His Saints side are now out at 9/2 (from 11/4) to achieve that.
At the wrong end of the table, improving Burnley have been lengthened for Premier League relegation, though remain odds-on for the drop at 4/9 (from 3/10). Sean Dyche’s side are also 13/8 outsiders to stay up.
Current basement club Leicester City’s wait for a win goes on, following Frank Lampard’s winner for Manchester City at the King Power. Foxes boss Nigel Pearson is looking vulnerable, following the axing of the East Midlands outfit’s director of football, and is the 11/10 favourite to be the next boss to go. Leicester, who are five points from safety, sit odds-on at 8/13 to go down.
