Five wheeler-dealer January transfer moves QPR could make

| 19.12.2014

QPR, 11/10 third-favourites with Coral to be relegated this season, may be set for another recruitment drive, following Harry Redknapp’s recent interview to the club’s official website.

When asked about meetings with Hoops owner Tony Fernandes, Redknapp said: “We talked at length about the new stadium, training ground, transfer window. We need one or two in, maybe loans.”

And that got Coral’s football experts thinking about who these winter window signings could be? We’ve trawled the tabloid rumour mill to pick out five potential January arrivals Redknapp may move for.

Andros Townsend
Having spent the second half of the season before last on loan from Spurs at Loftus Road, QPR fans and Redknapp know what to expect from winger Townsend. The form of Nacer Chadli and head coach Mauricio Pochettino’s compatriot Erik Lamela are in favour at Tottenham now, so to revive his international ambitions a move may have to be made.

Robbie Keane
Record Republic of Ireland scorer Keane captained Spurs under Redknapp before falling out of favour and ultimately leaving White Hart Lane, first for a temporary spell at Celtic and then a permanent switch to MLS franchise LA Galaxy. Having won the American league’s MVP award, he will be in-demand on loan. At 34, Keane would bring a wealth of Premier League experienced to the Hoops.

Emmanuel Eboue
Ex-Arsenal and Ivory Coast right back Eboue has been frozen out of the first team at Turkish giants Galatasaray, so is clearly available for transfer. Now 31, he would provide a more solid option in defence instead of the attack-minded Mauricio Isla.

Jermain Defoe
We’ve lost count of how many times Redknapp has recruited Defoe. Reportedly unsettled at MLS franchise Toronto, the in-behind style striker is seeking a Premier League return. Leicester City, the Hoops’ relegation rivals, are also thought to be keen on Defoe, though.

Peter Crouch
Although QPR have target man Bobby Zamora on their books, ex-England international Crouch could be another go-to option, if Stoke City are willing to sell. Pairing him with Defoe would reprise a successful partnership Redknapp cultivated at both Portsmouth and Spurs.
