Flop Falcao odds-on to depart Manchester United next summer

| 17.02.2015
CORAL ENHANCED ACCAS

Manchester United’s on-loan striker Radamel Falcao is odds-on at 1/4 with Coral to not be at Old Trafford on the opening day of the 2015/16 Premier League season, following further futile performances under Dutch manager Louis van Gaal.

The former Atletico Madrid marksman is enduring a troubled season-long loan spell from French outfit Monaco, with the Red Devils looking increasingly unlikely to exercise a permanent buy-out clause written into his current deal.

Under-fire forward Falcao has managed to net only six goals since his arrival in the red half of Manchester, with his time at Old Trafford seemingly running out, after another dismal display in his side’s FA Cup triumph over League One Preston.

United, who paid a reported £6m for the striker’s services for this current campaign, are running out of patience with their expensive flop, and with the Colombian’s parent club expecting a reported £43.5m permanent payment, his days look numbered.

The underachieving attacker has struck just four times in 19 outings for the Red Devils, far from justifying his incredible apparent £265k-a-week wages, and has completed 90 minutes on only four occasions in six months. So is Van Gaal better off without the hapless hitman?

It wasn’t until Falcao was hauled off after an hour at Deepdale that United sprang into life and overturned a one goal deficit, to eventually claim a 3-1 victory and set-up a quarter-final clash with cup holders Arsenal.

Falcao’s latest underwhelming performance in a red shirt has led many to believe Dutchman Van Gaal will rid his squad of the former Porto poacher, making room for new attacking stars next summer, with the club reportedly keen to splash more cash on world class acquisitions.

With only 13 domestic league games remaining this term, plus the rest of United’s FA Cup campaign, it’s hard to predict when the Colombian centre forward will get another chance at securing a full-time position at Old Trafford.

Falcao is 5/2 to still be a Red Devils player on the opening day of the next Premier League season, with Van Gaal holding the option of activating a £40m buy-out clause.
