Kirby Calls It: All Weather champion previews Lingfield

| 21.02.2015

1:15 – I think the booking of Ryan Moore on NIGEL’S DESTINY should be noted here. The horse was second at Kempton in December but was on a hat trick bid that evening having earlier won twice there. The horse that beat him hasn’t exactly franked the form having being beaten a few times since, but I think he’s on an upward curve, has a good draw and has another win in him.

1:45 – I like the look of HALLELUJAH in this race. She has a bit to find with Foxtrot Romeo when they met at Wolverhampton in November. But I like the way she won last time out at Kempton and if she can transform what she does at Kempton to Lingfield this afternoon, I think she’ll be hard to beat. If I was to choose one horse I’d like to have ridden today, it would have been her.

2:15 – The one I’d like to be on here is SOVEREIGN DEBT in a very open race. He’s got a very poor draw but he’s the class horse of the race. I thought he ran an eye-catching race, back after a little break last Saturday, and if the run brings him on and he has some lucky in running, he should be there or thereabouts. I was second on him in the Lockinge behind Farhh a couple of years ago. He’s a good horse.

2:50 – My only ride of the day is in this race. I ride CHORUS OF LIES for Mr Appleby. He’s been running well, was third on a couple of occasions in maidens towards the backend of last season. Its looks an open race. There could be an improver in there in Andrew Balding’s (Opera Lad). Mark Johnston’s horse could be okay as well but I think my horse goes there with every chance. My horse will fit and I think if he runs his race he’ll run a big one.

3:25 – In the big one of the day I’d like to be on GRENDISAR. It looks a good race. He loves the track, he loves the trip and this is his sort of race. He won a Listed event over track and trip last time and Marco Botti has a good record in this race, he’s sent out the winner of this three times in the last five years. The one he has to be beat is Grandeur. He won the big Coral race on Finals Day last year. Maverick Wave is alright too but I don’t think Lamar will be good enough. It’s interesting that Cloudscape is wearing blinkers for the first time but if I had a choice of a ride in the race it would definitely be Grendisar.

4:00 – I think if SKINNY LOVE runs her race, she could win again. She made a winning return to action last time and a rise of 3lb rise might not prove enough to stop her. She is stepping up a furlong but I can’t see why that wouldn’t suit. I was second to her last week and don’t see a reason why she shouldn’t follow up.
4:35 – I like TEMPLE ROAD in this race. He runs well and likes the track. He’s in good spirits and just about gets the five furlongs. I won on him at Lingfield two starts back, he has plenty of confidence, has won since and I think he’ll take a bit of beating.

5:05 – The last on the card is a very open race. Nothing stands out but if I was going to pick one I’d like to ride in the race it would be FAIR VALUE. She made all to win at Kempton last time out and if she’s allowed an easy lead again, she could prove very dangerous. She has a good draw too which will help.
