PSG primed to overhaul Lyon at Ligue 1 summit with away win

| 08.02.2015

Lyon have only won one of their last six home games against mega-rich PSG in all competitions. It’s the Kids that top Ligue 1, yet they are 9/4 outsiders with Coral to inflict defeat on Laurent Blanc’s boys on Sunday night.

PSG, who have victories at the Stade Gerland in each of the last two season, start as 5/4 favourites for three points in league action there, with a draw an 11/5 chance. The goalless draw at Monaco last time out proved how reliant Lyon are on Alexandre Lacazette to win them matches.

Kids coach Herbert Fournier has spiced things up ahead of this key clash in a pretty open French title race by accusing PSG star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic of insulting referees in other languages.

“All the referees in this league get insulted by this person,” Fournier said of the Sweden star. “Apparently, the referees are not bilingual or trilingual, so they don’t understand. In a way, it’s better to speak Italian or English to insult referees.”

Ibrahimovic has silenced critics throughout his career, however, and you have to question the wisdom of this attempt to rile him. Lyon’s defence holds no fear for the PSG talisman, as he has two goals against this team from a 4-0 Parc des Princes romp in December 2013.

Back Zlatan at 6/4 in the anytime market, or 5/1 for a brace or better again here. It is strike partner Edinson Cavani that should cause the Kids most concern, though.

The Uruguay forward has four in as many previous appearances against Lyon. Bearing that in mind, Cavani is splendid value at 21/10 to be on target once more.

Midfielder Jordan Ferri might be the Kids’ best scoring bet after doing so in a 1-0 home win in April last year. He is 4/1 to net again anytime. Cameroon winger Clinton N’Jie, meanwhile, is an exciting option, and this raw talent has the potential to cause Blanc’s boys problems in wide areas. He is 7/2 in the same market.

PSG are 11/8 to score two goals or more in Lyon and, given the attempted wind up of Ibrahimovic, this is too good a price to ignore.
