Mercurial Messi, has a haul of 43 goals in 39 appearances across all competitions this campaign, including eight Champions League strikes in seven games.

Southampton boss and former Barcelona player Ronald Koeman recently paid testament to the Argentinian’s abilities saying: “Whenever Messi is on top of his game, Barcelona are simply unstoppable.

“He has always given everything for Barcelona and has never created any problems. You can say a lot of things about some people, but not about Messi.”

Manchester City defender, Martin Demichelis, who may feature against his international teammate, also spoke highly of the talented Barca star: “I’m one of his biggest admirers and even more so with the excellent form he has been showing of late. When he’s at his best he is unstoppable as he’s so unpredictable.
