Premier League Darts Week 7: Old rivals Taylor and Barney meet

| 19.03.2015

Coral writers preview Week 7 of Premier League Darts action in Glasgow, which features a number of tasty battles.

Defending champion Raymond van Barneveld faces long-term friend and rival Phil Taylor, a six-time winner of this tournament, while current table top two Michael van Gerwen and Dave Chisnall are up against each other.

Elsewhere, talented duo James Wade and Adrian Lewis open the evening’s action, and home favourite Gary Anderson takes on Kim Huybrechts.

James Wade v Adrian Lewis
Judging by recent meetings between this duo, it will be hard to separate them, and a draw is priced at 10/3.

But Wade (11/8 for victory) has enjoyed a better start in his return to this competition, as he is just one place and a point off the top four. The Machine also boasts a 5-2 advantage over Lewis (also 11/8) from their nine Premier League head-to-heads, so back him at an enticing 11/2 price to triumph 7-4.

Peter Wright v Stephen Bunting
Wright smashed Bunting 10-0 in the recent Coral UK Open, and he is 50-1 to whitewash the Liverpudlian again, but The Bullet will be looking to bounce back and get revenge.

Bunting, who is ahead of Snakebite on leg difference in the league, has won four of his six matches against Wright, though, and is 7/4 for victory, while the Scot, unbeaten in his last four, is the 11/10 favourite.

Raymond van Barneveld v Phil Taylor
Two of the greatest darts players in history collide, but it is very hard to look past The Power in this clash. Taylor (3/1 tournament second-favourite) has lost just one of his last 14 meetings with Barney, and is odds-on at 2/5 to beat him again.

Van Barneveld, who has slipped into the elimination zone of the table following two straight defeats, is a 9/2 chance to somehow carve out a win, and is also the same price to draw.

Kim Huybrechts v Gary Anderson
Scotsman Anderson will be cheered on by his home nation in this battle, and is odds-on at 4/7 to beat Belgian Huybrechts.

The Hurricane is bottom of the table, after losing three and winning just one of his first six matches, but is 10/3 to claim a shock victory in Glasgow.

Dave Chisnall v Michael van Gerwen
The Premier League’s in-form and top two duo meet in the final battle of the evening. Van Gerwen is still unbeaten this season, and defeated Chisnall twice 7-4 last year, so back the Dutchman odds-on at 1/2 for victory again and 11/2 by that scoreline.

Chizzy tailed off last season after a positive start, and suffered his first loss last time out in Week 6 to Bunting, but is a tempting 7/2 shout to claim a win.
