West Yorkshire derby as Castleford clash with Leeds in Super League

| 03.04.2015
CORAL ENHANCED ACCAS

Castleford have already have already taken one scalp this season, beating Wigan Warriors 42-14 at home, and odds of 2/1 with Coral to take two points off rivals Leeds Rhinos could turn out to be good value.

Although Leeds are top of Super League, this fixture historically has caused them problems, so they will have to guard against any complacency against the Tigers. Currently at the summit of on goal difference, the Rhinos overcame a tough Catalans side 38-22 last time out in the south of France.

Danny Maguire crossed in that contest, and is Leeds’ top scorer with six tries. Being a local lad, he understands the importance of the match for both sets of fans, and is 11/10 to add four points to the board anytime.

Liam Sutcliffe, meanwhile, who recently signed a new three-year contract with the club, also added his name to the scorers list in Perpignon, and the 19-year-old is 7/4 to do so again anytime.

Hosts Castleford, following a patchy start to the season, are starting to discover some consistency, and beat Hull FC last time out 20-14, with Super League’s top scorer, Justin Carney adding to his haul. The winger is 7/1 to cross first, and it will be an intriguing match-up between him and Rhinos’ Ryan Hall, who is also 7/1 to draw first blood.

Leeds skipper Kevin Sinfield recently announced he would be switching codes at the end of the season, though his fitness is in doubt for this Cas clash, according to coach Brian McDermott.

“I’m not sure if he’s going to be fit for Friday,” McDermott said of Sinfield. “What we have got to make sure when Kev does come back into the team is that he’s 100 per cent fit.

“Sutcliffe’s played really well in these last couple of games. He’s held his own and in some parts of the games has played really well,” he continued.

“It’s good to know that while Kevin’s in recovery, Sutty is doing a good job and getting more experience.”
