Danny Ings winging his way to Spurs for a £12m fee?

CORAL ENHANCED ACCAS

Tottenham, 5/1 for a top four Premier League finish with Coral next term, are sensationally set to offer £12m for soon-to-be out-of-contract Burnley striker Danny Ings, to keep him out of the clutches of Liverpool and every other club that may circle.

The north London outfit ideally need more strength in depth up front, to ease the pressure on Harry Kane, and his strike partner at England Under-21 level may be the perfect foil. With Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado reportedly set to leave, freshening up the attack is a priority for manager Mauricio Pochettino.

In an ideal world, Burnley wouldn’t want to let Ings go, though, with the club relegated and the player’s contract expiring, a £12m fee would be more than adequate compensation, and gives manager Sean Dyche requisite funds to strengthen for a season in the Championship.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, is an experienced and savvy negotiator, and is likely to get the deal that is best for him, while making the other two parties (Ings and Burnley) think they have the better outcome.

Despite Burnley being relegated, Ings still managed to score 11 goals this term, and with better quality service from the likes of Christian Eriksen and Nacer Chadli, it should see that tally increase somewhat, should he make the move to White Hart Lane.

At just 22, the player has years in front of him and can become a star for both club and country. Paired up in attack with Kane (21), Spurs could be devastating in front of goal.

The club have turned a corner this season under Pochettino, who has almost followed former club Southampton’s model of bringing through young players, such as the aforementioned Kane, Ryan Mason and Nabil Bentaleb as well as trusting last summer’s young signings Benjamin Stambouli and Eric Dier.

This summer the Argentinian will no doubt look to build on the work the club did last term, and with the signing of Ings, it would be a great start.
