Five forwards for Jose Mourinho to consider for Chelsea in the summer

| 11.05.2015

Having won the Premier League, Chelsea, 13/8 with Coral to win the title next season, can now plan for their next campaign, and having struggled at times up front this term, when Diego Costa has been sidelined, they will need reinforcements.

Didier Drogba clearly isn’t the striker he was when he left Stamford Bridge, while Loic Remy, was nowhere near as effective as Costa, who would often score multiple goals in games.

With the latter linked away from the club and there being question marks over Drogba’s future, with suggestions he could move to a coaching role, there may be a vacancy or two for a striker this year.

We take a look at five forwards who Chelsea may take a look this summer, to strengthen their squad for next season.

Antoine Griezmann
Atletico Madrid’s versatile French attacker moved from Basque outfit Real Sociedad last summer, and has excelled under Diego Simeone.

In 35 La Liga appearances, he dispatched 22 goals, and this kind of impact will be received well by Jose Mourinho. He can play anywhere behind the striker, or even up front, and has the talent to combine with any of the Blues’ attacking players.

Radamel Falcao
Despite an indifferent campaign on-loan at Manchester United, he may not have done enough the convince Louis van Gaal to keep him.

However, he may suit Chelsea’s system better, especially with an abundance of talent operating behind him, and he could be ideal to deputise for Costa.

Luciano Vietto
Likened to Luis Suarez and compatriot Sergio Aguero, Villarreal’s hotshot forward could be ideal for the Premier League, and could do a job for Chelsea.

The 21-year-old has struck 20 times in 47 appearances this term for the Yellow Submarines and Mourinho could see potential here.

Alexandre Lacazette
Lyon’s 23-year-old French attacker has been one of the most potent in Europe this term, netting 27 goals in 32 league appearances.

He would definitely fit in at Chelsea, though is likely to command a substantial fee, however, offering Remy in part-exchange may sweeten the deal.

Graziano Pelle
If the Saints received a substantial fee, they may be tempted to sell Italian striker Pelle, who, when he has been in form, has been fantastic, though is prone to inconsistent spells.

Mourinho, though could be tempted to take a punt on him, and Mourinho is likely to be a fan of the striker’s physical presence.
