Premier League Darts Week 15: Stars to enjoy evening ahead of finals

| 14.05.2015

As the regular Premier League Darts season reaches its climax, the four players for finals night next week have already been confirmed, as Michael van Gerwen, Dave Chisnall, Gary Anderson and Raymond van Barneveld have made the cut.

That means, with nothing really to play for except pride and placing, expect the eight stars to go out and enjoy the evening without much pressure.

Here is Coral’s preview of the Week 15’s final four fixtures of the season, taking place at the Brighton Centre…

Phil Taylor v James Wade
Six-time champion Taylor (8/11 odds-on favourite) will not take part in a Premier League play-off for the first time since the tournament’s inception in 2005, as he couldn’t manage to hold on to a top four berth.

The Power’s second half of the season has been woeful, having won just one of his previous seven, but he will want to finish on a high and luckily faces someone in even worse form in Wade, who has no victories in his last seven.

This duo had a close encounter in Week 5, with Taylor eventually triumphing 7-5, and you can back him at 13/2 to triumph by that scoreline once more. Wade is 13/5 to win.

Raymond van Barneveld v Stephen Bunting
While Taylor’s form in the second half of the season dipped, Barney’s dramatically improved, as the flying Dutchman is undefeated in his last seven (winning five in a row at one stage).

It seems that Van Barneveld (10/11) only performs when it matters, and this clash with Bunting (2/1) will mean nothing to him now that he’s secured a play-off place, meaning The Bullet can claim his fourth victory of the season.

Barney has a habit of proving everyone wrong when he looks down and out, and he did at last year’s Premier League by claiming the title. He is the outsider again at 11/2 to defend the trophy.

Adrian Lewis v Gary Anderson
Jackpot (7/4) was unlucky not to make it to the play-offs, after a much improved run from Week 9 too, but finished in fifth place.

World champion Anderson (11/10) will need to find more momentum if he is to claim the Premier League title too (3/1 second favourite), and he is gradually getting back to winning ways after a small mid-season slump.

Lewis plays his best darts when the pressure is off, though, so this could be an entertaining draw (10/3).

Michael van Gerwen v Dave Chisnall
This is a battle between the table’s top two, with Chisnall (5/1 tournament chance) looking to leapfrog Van Gerwen (5/6 favourite) to the summit ahead of finals week.

Only a win for Chizzy (3/1) will be enough for him to finish first, but he is the favourite on the night to get the most 180s at 10/3, as he has the highest amount this season so far.

But MVG will be hoping to get some form back under his belt too, having lost three of his last five in the league, so is odds-on at 8/13 to triumph.
