With the country’s trophy-dominant champions Celtic out of the picture, Falkirk and Inverness will collide at Hampden Park hoping to claim the Scottish FA Cup crown and finish the season on a successful silverware high.

Inverness are vying for their first ever triumph in this competition, while Falkirk are hoping for a third cup crown, with their most recent final coming in 2009, when they were toppled by Rangers.

Caley Thistle are 3/1 with Coral to secure victory in 90 minutes and both teams to score, while their Scottish second tier opponents are 5/1 outsiders to come away with a famous cup coup.

Although, Falkirk may be lacking sharpness, having not played a game since the Championship campaign cane to an end on May 2, but Bairns manager Peter Houston believes his men can overcome this obstacle.

“It’s something that probably has to be looked at, but we won’t make it an excuse if it doesn’t go our way,” stated Houston regarding the scheduling. “I think my biggest job on the day will be making sure we’re calm and handle the occasion.”

Inverness had the luxury of being able to rest players for their final Premiership clash recently, but a long break without any competitive action was actually forced upon Houston’s Bairns outfit.

“Last week, we had games against young Burnley and Swansea sides. That was the best we could get at this particular time,” continued Houston.

“But if you can’t get the players up for a cup final then there’s no chance of ever getting them up.”

The former Dundee United boss can draw on his fond experience of already lifting this Scottish trophy with his past employers, having won the cup in 2010 with the Terrors.

“We were favourites that day and we handled it very well,” recalled Houston. “I’ll stick with the same routine, staying in the same hotel, naming the team on Thursday.”

These two sides haven’t met since May 2009, but this time out Caley Thistle’s key threat could be top domestic league scorer Marley Watkins, and he is 11/1 to open proceedings in Glasgow.

For Falkirk, menacing marksman Rory Loy will undoubtedly be up to the challenge in the frontline, and is 11/1 to net anytime in 90 minutes, having slotted home 12 goals in all competitions this term.
