Musselburgh preview: Course specialist Just Paul handicapped to strike

| 29.06.2015
CORAL ENHANCED ACCAS

Just Paul has a terrific record at Musselburgh, and can take advantage of a drop in the weights to further enhance it with victory in the 7f handicap on this evening’s seven-race card (20.45).

The Micky Hammond trained gelding has won three of his five starts over course and distance, and in the last of those 13 months ago kept on strongly to beat Majestic Moon by 1 3/4 lengths in a class 3 contest off a mark of 76.

Just Paul went on to run a couple of solid races off marks as high as 81 and is now able to race in this class 4 affair off just 70.

That is 6lb lower than when last successful and gives the five-year-old major claims from a handicapping perspective.

Just Paul also comes into the context having shaped as if returning to form last time out when beaten just 1 3/4 lengths into fifth at Wetherby.

Connections have also decided to put up promising apprentice Jack Garrity and, taking his 3lb claim into account, Just Paul looks weighted to get back to winning ways now returned to his favourite stomping ground.

Our Time Will Come opened her account in determined fashion last time out and looks weighted to follow-up in 1m handicap that closes proceedings (21.15).

The John Quinn trained filly came from off the pace to get up close home and score be a neck in a 7f maiden at Catterick, and the fourth home Myboydaniel has gone on to land a handicap off 72.

That gives the form a strong look in the context of this contest, and makes Our Time Will Come look potentially thrown-in at the weights on her handicap debut off an opening mark of just 61.

The well-bred daughter of Rock Of Gibraltar is also totally unexposed and open to stacks more improvement after just two starts, and the step up to 1m should suit judged on the way she finished off the race at Catterick.

Another plus is that Quinn has a strike rate of 35 per cent at the track in the past 12 months, and everything suggests Our Time Will Come is going to be very hard to beat.
