Salisbury preview: Wild about the chances of Frenzified
The Newmarket handler has been successful with just over 27 per cent with his runners at venue in the past 12 months, and in Frenzified has a lightly-raced and improving filly who looks on a handy mark.
Frenzified shaped well in a trio of maidens before opening her account in a conditions’ contest over course and distance where she was value for more than the one length winning margin.
After tracking the leaders, the three-year-old got slightly outpaced three from home before rallying strongly under a hands and heels ride to get up close home and be well on top at the finish.
It was an effort which suggested there was plenty more to come from the well-bred daughter of Yeats, and after finishing solid third at Nottingham she got back to winning ways with a smooth success at Doncaster last month.
Frenzified came from off the pace and found plenty to beat The Tempest by 1/2 a length, with the pair pulling eight lengths clear of the third home.
She idled once hitting the front, and a 4lb rise in the weights looks on the lenient side and not enough to stop Frenzified following-up.
In the 1m handicap (15.30), Crowning Glory is weighted to go well at a big price.
The Steve Woodman trained six-year-old back to winning ways at Kempton four starts back when scoring by 3/4 of a length off a mark of 50.
Crowning Star has not been at his best in in three subsequent starts, but he is now able to race off a career-low rating of just 49 as a result.
It gives the gelding every chance from a handicapping perspective in what looks a weak class 6 contest.
Although Crowning Star has not run of the turf in four years, the son of Royal Applause does have winning form on it and is undoutbedly on a handy mark if the belated switch back to it has the desired effect.
