Underdogs Japan backed to cause another World Cup upset

| 22.09.2015

Japan have been well backed with bookmaker Coral to cause their second shock of the 2015 Rugby World Cup when they face Scotland tomorrow afternoon. Japan were 66-1 to beat South Africa on Saturday in one of the biggest sporting upsets for many years, according to Coral, and are now available at 11-2 (from 9-1) with the firm going into their clash with Scotland at the Kingsholm Stadium.

In the outright betting for the tournament, New Zealand remain the favourites at 11-10, England are second best at 7-2, while Australia can be backed at 7-1.

“Japan’s victory over South Africa has to go down as one of the biggest upsets across all sports over the last couple of decades. Barely any punters gave the underdogs a chance against the Springboks, however, they defied their huge odds to defeat the two-time world champions,” said Coral’s John Hill.

“Punters now believe that win was not just a flash in the pan for Japan, as we’ve seen a huge gamble on them beating Scotland where their odds have come crashing down due to the weight of support behind them,” added Hill.
