Coral’s top five assists after Juan Mata’s for Manchester United

CORAL ENHANCED ACCAS

Following Juan Mata’s superb assist for Manchester United in their 2-1 Champions League win over Wolfsburg, Coral look at some of the best assists in football over the years.

United have always been a side who create great goals and no doubt there will be many more to come from with the Red Devils, who are 22/1 with Coral to win Europe’s top club competition.

While the Spaniard’s will take some beating, there are still some gems below, so take a look and see which one is your favourite!

Eric Cantona
The Frenchman has described this as his “sweetest” moment, and you can understand why. A delicate side-footed chip over the defence for on-running left back Dennis Irwin concluded in a superbly well-taken finish.

David Beckham
It wouldn’t be right not including “Becks” in this list as you’ll see from this delicious ball to Zinedine Zidane, who finished with precision on the volley. While at Real Madrid, Beckham won La Liga in his final game for Los Blancos, while contributing 41 assists for the likes of Ronaldo, Raul Gonzalez and Luis Figo.

Andrea Pirlo
This defence-splitting assist was executed to perfection by one of the best pass-masters of the last decade. Midfield linchpin Pirlo’s ball for Juventus teammate Claudio Marchisio was probably better than the finish itself and is defining tribute to the Italian’s repertoire.

Dennis Bergkamp
For a team that has played some of the best football of the last decade, not including an Arsenal assist would be sacrilege. This brilliantly worked goal against Juventus in the Champions League was made even better with Bergkamp’s touch of genius to put in Freddie Ljungberg.

Andres Iniesta
Arguably the best team of the last decade, Barcelona have scored some sensational goals over the years. This assist from Iniesta in ‘El Clasico’ put Xavi Hernandez in to score.
