Rotherham can continue run against Burnley despite loss of boss Evans

| 02.10.2015
CORAL ENHANCED ACCAS

Rotherham United and Burnley duel for the first time in just over a decade, when Frank Sinclair scored a winner for the latter whose line-up included a young Gary Cahill. The Clarets are 13/10 favourites with Coral for three points again.

Burnley travel to a team who are no doubt filled with mixed emotions if late, as they are on a run of two successive victories after not winning any of their opening seven this Championship season.

However, despite their change in fortunes, Steve Evans resigned as head coach to leave Eric Black as caretaker for this clash.

“Steve Evans had to make a decision for Steve Evans,” said Steve Evans. “And chairman Tony Stewart had to make a decision for himself and his football club.

“At the end of the meeting we hugged and there were some tears. It was a very emotional moment, for someone to watch his chairman shed tears and know that in the next few hours we were going to formally part.”

Following wins over current top six clubs Birmingham City and Cardiff City, the Millers are 11/5 shouts to beat seventh-placed Burnley, who lost last time out to Reading.

Frontmen Matt Derbyshire and Jonson Clarke-Harris have been the only players this term for Rotherham to score more than once, and have been given the same 23/10 price to net again anytime.

Two former Manchester United academy graduates and defenders could meet in this clash too, with the Millers’ Tom Thorpe and Burnley’s Michael Keane hoping to the one over the other.

Both have netted this term in the league already, and Keane is his club’s surprise top scorer this season with three. They are temptingly priced at 12/1 and 4/1 respectively in the anytime market.

The likes of more attacking players Andre Gray (9/5), Sam Vokes (19/10) and George Boyd (12/5), though, will be hoping to get on the scoresheet.

Coral’s top tip: Burnley’s Keane has three goals this season already, and the scoring centre back is 4/1 to grab another anytime at the New York Stadium
