Wolverhampton preview: Fei Kuai hot stuff on handicap debut

SPORTSBOOK ODDS

Trainer Luca Cumani has his team in terrific shape, and Fei Kuai can take advantage of a what looks a lenient opening mark to provide him with another success in the 7f handicap on this evening’s card at Wolverhampton (20.40).

The filly has only had four starts, and shaped with plenty of promise on her penultimate outing when an eye-catching fifth of 13 to Persun at Newmarket.

Fei Kuai got hampered inside the final furlong before keeping on nicely under tender handling to be beaten 3 1/2 lengths.

The winner has gone on to win again since and is now rated 84, and the fourth home Bastille Day also scored next time up and is rated 78.

That gives the form a strong look in the context of this contest and makes Fei Kuai look potentially thrown-in off an opening handicap mark of just 72.

Fei Kuai has also since built on that effort to score in terrific style at Chepstow, coming from off the pace before quickening clear to beat a 73-rated rival by 3 1/2 lengths.

The daughter of Paco Boy is clearly going the right way and, from a good draw in stall one, looks weighted to take all the beating in the hands of Adam Kirby.

Kirby also partners For Shia And Lula in the 7f handicap that closes proceedings (21.10) and his booking suggests connections mean business.

The Mark Loughnane trained gelding was last successful over course and distance back in April when making all in the hands of Kirby to score by one length off a mark of 75.

For Shia And Lula got put up to 77 for that victory, and has since run well to make the frame on several occasions.

The six-year-old is now able to race off 73, 2lb lower than when last successful, and that gives the son of Majestic Missile a big shout from a handicapping perspective.

It’s also very interesting that Kirby is now back in the saddle for the first time since that victory, as his form figures aboard For Shia And Lula read 231.
