Ipswich to continue excellent recent record against Addicks

There are a whopping 10 Championship spots between hosts Charlton Athletic and upcoming guests Ipswich Town, though Mick McCarthy’s men will not be pleased to find themselves 10 points off the pace of league leaders Hull City.

With ambitions of at least scrapping in the promotion play-off places, the Tractor Boys must take all three points from this fixture to try and close the gap, and are 23/20 from Coral to do so considering their recent record against the Addicks.

Ipswich have not lost any of their last seven scuffles against this opposition, winning five of those, in a routine which looks unlikely to change with Greenwich-based guys Charlton struggling to keep their heads above water in the bottom five.

As Suffolk side Ipswich have taken the spoils from their last two trips to The Valley by a 1-0 margin, they are enticing at 11/2 to gain victory by that scoreline once again.

Tractor Boys’ TV troubles

It’s not all doom and gloom for hosts the Addicks, however, as they are currently the in-form team going into this fray, having won two on the bounce after a worrying stretch of 11 league games without a win.

So, you can back the capital club at 5/2 to be buoyed by this and beat their guests, especially as the Tractor Boys have recently been pointed out to have somewhat of a TV curse, failing to find a victory in their last 11 televised tussles.

Still, interim boss Karel Fraeye’s side are far from polished, so may be more profitable for London-leaning punters at 11/5 to draw and continue their patch-up job.

Addicks attack reignited?

After Charlton went five games without finding the net, skipper Johnnie Jackson has been leading by example, with two goals in as many of his last games, making the midfielder fantastic at 4/1 in the anytime market. Also an Addicks threat is is striker Simon Makienok, with the Danish dangerman on loan from Palermo a 15/8 punt to poach anytime too.

Ipswich also have plenty to offer up top, with dangerman Daryl Murphy, who notched against Charlton last term, 5/1 to close the scoring after doing so in his last outing in Tractor Boys blue. While, the talent of Jonathan Douglas (5/1 to strike anytime) and Brett Pitman (6/1 to net first), who have both been among the goals lately, should be enough to see McCarthy and co through.

Coral’s top tip: Back Ipswich at 11/2 to repeat their 1-0 victory at The Valley for the third time on the trot.
