Good run can see Everton surge up the Premier League

The Toffees’ next nine games in the English top flight are all winnable. Should they take maximum points, they will be in a very comfortable position.

Currently, they are just above mid-table and are heavily odds-on at 8/13 with Coral to beat the Black Cats at Goodison Park, who themselves will be buoyed from their emphatic 3-0 derby.

Romelu Lukaku, after a sensational start to the season has had a barren spell recently, though can prove to be more than a handful for Sunderland’s defence. Against a West Bromwich Albion side marshalled by the defensively minded Tony Pulis, he bagged a brace.

Sam Allardyce plays similar football to the former Stoke City boss, though the Belgian striker still found a way of making the most of opportunities. He is 3/1 to net two or more and has compatriot Kevin Mirallas back to support him.

The winger is a useful outlet for Everton and will be looking to establish a scoring run which would see him selected in the side for every match. He is 9/2 to break the deadlock, while Ross Barkley who dispatched in the narrow 2-1 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates, is a superb 7/4 shout anytime.

Sunderland to take hope from last season?

Previously in this fixture, May this year to be precise, it was Sunderland who took the bragging rights. A 2-0 win thanks to goals from Jermain Defoe and Danny Graham ensured that the Wearside outfit secured the three points and the duo are 2/1 and 11/4 respectively in the anytime market, with the former playing a vital role in his side’s final goal against the Mapgies.

It appears that Allardyce’s presence at the Stadium of Light has shone brightness on what once was dark. None more so in the rejuvenation of Adam Johnson, who turned into a hero in the derby after netting the first goal against Newcastle and going on to heavily influence the rest of the match.

At 6/1 to net again anytime, this is an odd that stands out as particularly good value. Steven Fletcher who rounded off the scoring in the rout to finish a flowing move, is also perfectly priced for punters at 2/1 in the same market.
