Klopp to court Dortmund players?

Borussia Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke has declared that former manager Jurgen Klopp, now at Liverpool, who are 16/1 with Coral to win the Premier League, has the go ahead to pursue players from the Bundesliga club.

“One thing is clear, we at Borussia Dortmund have a very good relationship with Jurgen,” said Watzke.

“There would be no conflict were there to be interest in one of our players at some point. He would contact us before he contacts the player.”

As a result of this, Coral take a look at five potential signings for January and the summer for Liverpool, who feature in the Capital One Cup quarter-finals next, with Klopp reportedly keen on strengthening.

Marco Reus

Although he has been heavily linked to Real Madrid, the attacker may prefer to be reunited with the man who got the best out of him.

Likely to cost in the region of £40m, the Reds could afford him and the chance to link him up with Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino may be too good to resist.

At just 25, he would be at the right age to make a move to the Premier League and push on with developing his career and would undoubtedly fit into a Liverpool team with like-minded players.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Signed and groomed by Klopp, the manager never really saw the benefits of his tutelage, with the Gabon international striker coming into form this term.

Although a number of clubs have been linked, Liverpool could benefit from a lethal striker and he definitely fits the bill. Klopp’s relationship with Dortmund would work in his favour should he decide to make a move.

Moritz Leitner

This 22-year-old talent has earned rave reviews in the Bundesliga. Having joined Dortmund last summer, he has been impressive and drawn comparisons to our next mention.

Whether he is polished enough for Klopp to take a chance on though remains to be seen. He already possesses Emre Can, who has gone from strength-to-strength and is just 21, so may benefit from a more experienced midfielder alongside him.

Ilkay Gundogan

Manchester United were apparently close to signing the cultured midfielder in the summer, however a move never materialised. With a range of passing and an eye for goal, plus an ability to link defence and attack, he could be the perfect signing.

At just 25, Gundogan is also at the right age to push on for a new chapter in his career and would slot into Klopp’s Reds set-up easily.

Matthias Ginter

Although a defender, new coach Thomas Tuchel has got the best out of him in almost a winger role this term, with Ginter proving effective on the counter-attack, his energy causing teams many problems on the break.

Klopp may value this versatility and he could be a useful outlet when his side are up against it in tricky games. At just 21, he has many years ahead of him, and the Reds wouldn’t have to break the bank.
