Boxing Day Bonanza to kick off second round

Boxing Day brings a late darting gift to audiences, as the 2016 World Darts Championship returns for the second round after a two-day mini break over Christmas.

So, grab your leftovers and a cold beer or two and settle in front of your screens to see current world champion Gary Anderson continue to defend his title. Maximums man Dave Chisnall also features in this top-draw set of scuffles, while viewers can catch another glimpse of giant-killer Ricky Evans as he next encounters Jamie Caven.

There is surely no better way to cure your post-Christmas hangover than with this tournament chock-full of sporting surprises, so read on as Coral preview all the live action, and check out our detailed first round assessment too…

Ricky Evans v Jamie Caven

2015 William Hill PDC World Championship - Day Three - Alexandra Palace
Having ousted 10th seed Simon Whitlock already, with a higher average than the experienced Aussie, in-form outsider Evans is excellent at 11/8 to next conquer Caven, who whitewashed Rob Szabo to reach this stage.

Yet, it is The Rapid who looked the bigger talent in his first tungsten test, with his fast throwing knocking The Wizard off kilter. If he plays in such a confident manner again, Jabba (4/7 favourite) could find himself playing catch up against this underdog. A close 4-3 scoreline at 5/1 looks like the best result bet in favour of Evans, who is also 11/10 to clock-up the highest checkout.

Dave Chisnall v Christian Kist

2015 William Hill PDC World Championship - Day Six - Alexandra Palace
Kist (3/1) may look quite short to shock Chizzy, but The Lipstick was ice cool in his encounter with Justin Pipe, so more than deserves to be rated so highly.

The sharpshooter will certainly not prove to be cannon-fodder for 1/5 favourite Chisnall, though the Englishman also highly impressed in his testing darting dust-up with Austrian prodigy Rowby-John Rodriguez.

With both stars recording high averages in their opening fixtures, this one could also provide twists and turns, with a 4-2 result for Chizzy tempting at 7/2.

Chisnall, a 180 specialist, is an obvious favourite at 8/15 to hit the first and at 1/3 for most maximums, after notching one within minutes on his first outing, so gives better value at 5/4 to be King of the Oche.

Gary Anderson v Daryl Gurney

2015 William Hill PDC World Championship - Day One - Alexandra Palace
Title holder Anderson (odds-on at 1/7) looked truly dominant and back to his best darts as he made mincemeat of Andy Boulton in his opener, so should be a frightening prospect for Northern Irish arrowsmith Gurney (a 9/2 outsider).

Having been beaten twice in 2015 by Dude, The Flying Scotsman will certainly not be counting his chickens. Though, after looking so hungry in the first round, it is tough to see anything but Anderson emerging victorious, with odds of 12/5 for the Scot to secure an emphatic 4-1 result.
