Southampton v Aston Villa

  • Premier League
  • Saturday, December 5th
  • Kick-off: 15:00 GMT
  • St Mary’s, Southampton

Aston Villa are in disarray after yet another loss. No side has had fewer points after 14 games of a Premier League season – even the famous Derby County team that went down with just 11 points. As it stands, Villa are the worst side in the history of the division, hence their 11/2 price for a win here.

That explains why Southampton are as short as 1/2 for the victory. Ronald Koeman’s men have already beaten the Midlands outfit in the Capital One Cup this season and hammered six past them in this fixture six months ago.

Remi Garde’s team look awful at the back, conceding seven goals in their previous two outings. To make things even worse, Ciaran Clark is banned and captain Micah Richards is a doubt, leaving Villa short of both central defenders. That could lead to a glut of Saints goals, with the home side to register over 2.5 strikes a tasty 21/10.

Swansea City v Leicester City

  • Saturday, December 5th
  • Kick-off: 15:00 GMT
  • Liberty Stadium, Swansea

Garry Monk is under pressure, while if Claudio Ranieri carries on in this vein he is in danger of ousting Foxes icon Gary Lineker as the face of Walkers Crisps. The Italian’s side (8/5 for the win) are just goal difference away from the top of the league and are unbeaten on their travels.

In contrast Swansea (17/10) have just one success from 10 and have lost a worrying six games in that period. However, they grabbed a draw in their last home game, and have done so in three of their preceding five in front of their own fans, so a share of the spoils (23/10) may be the best they can hope for.

Jamie Vardy looks to equal Jimmy Dunne’s top-flight record of goals in 12 successive games here. There’s no point trying to make sense of his scoring feats anymore; just back him at evens to find the net yet again.

Watford v Norwich City

  • Premier League
  • Saturday, December 5th
  • Kick-off: 15:00 GMT
  • Vicarage Road, Watford

Watford have been the most impressive of the promoted sides so far and are priced at 23/10 to secure a third home win of the campaign against Norwich. The Canaries (5/2) started pretty well but what has followed is just one victory in nine, while their away form shows three successes losses in the top fight.

Key to the Hornets’ success has been the excellent strike partnership of Troy Deeney and Odion Ighalo, who it could easily be argued are the best duo in the league. They have scored 12 goals and laid on five assists between them in their 14 matches.

Ighalo is the main threat in front of net and he’s 9/2 to break the deadlock, but Deeney has three in three and four in his last five so his 5/1 price looks hefty.
