Bet of the day: Liverpool and Spurs to put on high scoring show
Robbie Purves | April 2, 2016
Coral’s bet of the day
- Liverpool have scored 18 goals in their last six league matches against Spurs
- The two have averaged 3.7 goals in their previous six meetings
- Four of the last nine clashes between the two have ended with 4 or more goals
Liverpool and Spurs to score over 3.5 goals at 9/4
The two sides have averaged a huge 3.7 goals between them in their previous six meetings, and Coral have them at 11/5 to do the very same this weekend.
Defeat for either club would serious damage their aspirations; Liverpool chasing a Champions League birth while Mauricio Pochettino’s men look to clip the wings off high-flying Leicester City.
Hosts Liverpool have registered impressive high scoring wins this term, scoring six past Aston Villa and Southampton, four against Manchester City and five past Norwich City.
Anfield set for goal fest
In four of the last nine clashes between the two, the sides have produced four or more goals.
Second-placed Spurs visit Anfield with a star studded English contingent. Dele Alli, Harry Kane, Eric Dier, Danny Rose and Kyle Walker all impressed for England during the international break and will look to take this form into the face-off with the Reds.
Tottenham’s visit is crucial to keeping the pressure off table-topping Leicester, and this is the only occasion in the next month that Spurs will play their match before their title rivals.
Liverpool to lace-up shooting boots
The Reds have scored a massive 18 goals in their last six league matches against Spurs. In seven league appearances this season, Daniel Sturridge has scored an impressive four times and has three in nine against the north Londoners.
Spurs have the best attacking record in the league with 56 goals, while Liverpool have one of the worst defensive records. Harry Kane has scored in 50 per cent of his career appearances against the Anfield side and has six goals in his last six matches in all competitions.
