Mystery football punter comes forward to claim 470,000 pound win

| 03.06.2016

A London-based Coral football punter finally came forward today to claim a £470,000 win for just a £13 stake placed in a Coral betting shop in Holborn, London five days after the bet was landed.

The Eastern-European man in his 30s, placed the £13 accumulator on fourteen international friendlies last weekend, and all fourteen won landing him a return of £473,681.89p. He placed the bet on Coral’s “Self Service Betting Terminal” in the Holborn branch.

Yet for four days Coral staff in the Holborn branch waited for the successful customer to come forward, and finally he came into the shop yesterday to claim his prize. Whilst the customer wishes to remain anonymous, he shared his story with Coral.

“I like to have a football bet from time to time, and always looks to spend around ten to twenty pounds to try and win a big sum. I have had a few good wins in the past but nothing like this,” said the successful Coral customer.

“I placed the bet last week but had no idea I’d won as I hadn’t checked the football results. I even went into the shop on Thursday to collect a winning Gaming Machine bet, and saw messages on the Shop screens promoting the fact that a mystery punter had won over four hundred grand on a football bet. Not for a moment did I think it was me. But then I got home and thought I’d check my football bet. I found the football results and when I ticked off the fourteenth match I literally screamed the house down,” added the customer.

“I’m going to celebrate the win with my wife and children, but it won’t change my life. I even placed another £20 bet on the football this weekend. I support Manchester United and am glad Mourinho has joined the club. I never used to like him but now he’s our manager I will cheer him on. I think England can get to the final of the Euros but I won’t be backing them at 9/1. I like bigger odds than that!” concluded the customer

Simon Clare of Coral, said today, “This is the biggest ever win on a Self Service Betting Terminal, and this extraordinary 14 match accumulator took in games all around the world at odds of 36,437/1, from Costa Rica to Myanmar.”
