Big Sam backed to fill England hot seat

Sam Allardyce is now the new 7-2 favourite with leading bookmaker Coral to be the next permanent England manager after the firm has seen a sustained gamble on the Sunderland boss over the last couple of days. When Coral installed betting on Roy Hodgson’s replacement, Allardyce was 8-1 in the market, however, the firm has now seen more bets for the Englishman than any other candidate.
Behind Allarydce at the top of the betting for the England job, German Jurgen Klinsmann is second best at 8-1, former Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink is available at 9-1 and Glenn Hoddle is 12-1 to secure the role for the second time in his career.
“Punters have been very clear over the last couple of days on who they think will replace Roy Hodgson as the next England manager as we have been seeing one-way traffic for Big Sam who is now the new favourite to get the job,” said Coral’s John Hill.
“If the FA do choose to appoint a foreign manager again, Jurgen Klinsmann and Guus Hiddink may well be on their shortlist as they are both prominent in the betting to land the role,” added Hill.
