Moors Matilda can power to glory in Maiden Stayers
There are some decent Open contests on a mixed card at Harlow tonight screened live on Racing Post Greyhound TV (Sky 468, Freesat 250) and T2 Moors Matilda rates the standout bet in the Maiden Stayers at 20:42.
John Gardner’s bitch is a classy sort when timing it right at the lids, as she showed when producing a lightning 8.76 sectional to slam Blackroserocket by five lengths in an S1 at Henlow in April.
She was also far from disgraced over course and distance four starts back when getting badly bumped before running on well to finish runner-up to American Werwolf.
Although Matilda does not quite possess the early pace of old following an injury she is now powerful at the finish and very dangerous when turning handy.
There is every chance of her doing just that in this line-up and with T5 Coolavany Bisto unproven over the trip Matilda can bring her stamina into play to power home and land the spoils in what looks a two dog race on paper.
Return Spring drawn to attack
In the Sprint (20:10), T1 Return Spring can capitalise on what looks a good draw to get back to winning ways.
The bitch is two from three in the grade at the track and only got picked up late on to be beaten 1/2 length over course and distance three days ago.
Return Spring is also three form five when sporting the red jacket and with two middle runners on her inside and the thriving Stonepark Mo drawn wider than ideal in Trap 4 should get acres of space on the run to the vital first bend.
There is also a possibility of trouble with Mo sure to be cutting-in and that would give Return Spring a great chance to slip clear if timing it right at the lids.
Lots to like about Talltrees Lady
The winning run of T3 Talltrees Lady came to an end when she missed the break and got crowded at the track seven days ago but she looks to hold leading claims of getting back on scoresheet in the Standard (21.15)
Tommy Batchelor’s bitch had won her previous four starts in the manner of progressive youngster that needed keeping firmly onside.
On each occasion she showed bags of early dash to turn in front at the first bend and power clear.
The daughter of Ja Mann is also two from three when sporting the white jacket and if leading Trap 2 Rahyvira River in the early stages has every chance of making all.
Mays Fiddlefadle to cash-in on class drop
In the Stayers (21:48), T6 Mays Fiddlefadle is going to be tough to beat now eased in class.
Pam Dolby’s bitch has won two of her four starts at the track and finish a close second on the other two.
She will find this far easier than the recent races she has been contesting at Monmore and boasts the best recent time over course and distance.
Mays Fiddlefadle is also the sole wide seed in the line-up and has the potent combination of early pace and a strong finish.
Harlow best bets
20:10 T1 Return Spring
20:42 T2 Moors Matilda (NAP)
21:15 T3 Talltrees Lady
21:48 T6 Mays Fiddlefadle (NB)
