Rumour Reel: Alex Sandro to Man City, Man Utd move for David Alaba?
Coral’s rumour reel
It’s a tale of two clubs in the tabloids today, as attention turns to bitter top-flight rivals Manchester City and Manchester United’s long-term transfer plans. Alex Sandro to Man City is a whisper doing the rounds, while David Alaba is among rumoured Man Utd transfers.
Read on with Coral’s rumour reel to find out who else the Sky Blues and Red Devils may be targeting, and just what surprise fellow Northwest club Everton may have up their sleeve…
Alex Sandro to Man City?
Continuing to rebuild the Citizens’ backline in his image, Pep Guardiola is tipped to move for an attacking full back across the next two transfer windows.
The left defensive flank jumps out as the side of defence most in need of a refresh and Juventus’ Sandro has been singled out in the press as the man for the job.
Able to operate as a full back or wing back, the Brazil international would fit the bill as the versatile, tactically savvy and technically talented type of player Guardiola favours. But the Sky Blues may have to move fast for the full back as Samba Boys star Sandro reportedly has a £25.6m release clause but, should the 25-year-old ink a new deal with Italian giants Juve, Man City could see his price rise to as much as £40m.
David Alaba among future Man Utd transfers?
While, not so long ago Man City were also linked with Guardiola’s former Bayern Munich charge David Alaba – another flexible player deployed in many defensive positions.
But latest gossip suggests it is Jose Mourinho who could now move for the Austria international, as the Portuguese seeks to add more star quality to his squad.
Alaba could plug holes at left back or midfield, while the Red Devils are also believed to be eyeing the 24-year-old’s Austria teammate and fellow Bundesliga star Julian Baumgartlinger. Mourinho supposedly watched the Bayer Leverkusen midfield man along with Alaba over the international break.
While, earlier in the week we reported rumours that the Red Devils were interested in PSG right back Serge Aurier. Now latest whispers suggest Man City are also watching the Ivory Coast defender. Is a transfer tussle on the cards?
Everton after Niklas Sule
Finally, sticking to Bundesliga targets, Everton are said to be keeping tabs on top centre back prospect Sule of Hoffenheim. The 21-year-old towering Germany capped defender has been making waves in his homeland and former sweeper Ronald Koeman could move for the young sensation before the elite start circling.
The Toffees have a tough but ageing centre back partnership in Phil Jagielka and Ashley Williams, so could be after a younger pair of legs.
