Wilshere to Everton?
Arsenal-owned deep-lying playmaker Wilshere, 25, has emerged as a top summer transfer target for Everton, according to tabloid reports.
Spending this current season on loan with Premier League club Bournemouth, speculation surrounds Wilshere’s long-term future at the Gunners.
With 18 months left on his current deal at the Emirates, could a permanent move away from Arsenal be on the cards?
Toffees boss Ronald Koeman is believed to have his eye on Wilshere, but may face strong competition from Manchester City for his services.
Wilshere to Everton rumours appeared in the wake of Koeman’s angry post-match outburst following an FA Cup loss to Leicester City.
The Dutch gaffer at Goodison Park wants to see further investment in the Toffees’ squad if they are to challenge for a top four finish and become Premier League title contenders.
Man City loan for Badstuber?
One big transfer story doing the rounds online this weekend, meanwhile, is talk of a Man City loan for Badstuber.
Like Wilshere, Bayern Munich and Germany defender Badstuber’s career to date has been marred by injuries. He’s made just 30 Bundesliga appearances since the start of the 2012/13 campaign.
Badstuber, 27, played under Etihad boss Guardiola at the Allianz Arena, and the Catalan coach is refusing to rule out loaning in a defender to cover for injury-prone City captain Vincent Kompany.
“We are evaluating if there’s a chance to take one [defender],” Guardiola told press. “I know Holger, he’s a fantastic player, a fantastic guy, but he’s a Bayern Munich player, and we should first of all speak with them and with him.”
Man City are still competing in three competitions and, with Kompany’s match fitness a continuing problem, it leaves just Nicolas Otamendi and John Stones as the only senior natural centre backs available.
This has forced Guardiola to play Serbian wing back Aleksandar Kolarov at centre half, so a Man City loan for Badstuber would add to his options.
