BOOKIES SUSPEND BETTING ON SECOND REFERENDUM IN SCOTLAND

Leading bookmaker Coral has suspended betting on there being a second Scottish independence referendum by the end of 2019 following a flurry of bets this morning. The firm is betting on the outcome of another referendum in which they are odds-on at 4-6 that voters choose YES for independence and 11-10 for the country to remain in the UK.

“The size and intensity of this gamble this morning suggests to us that a second Scottish independence referendum will take place before the end of 2019 therefore we have decided to suspend betting on the market,” said Coral’s John Hill.

“We are though still betting on the outcome of a second referendum and the betting suggests the result will be different this time as we are odds-on that Scotland chooses Yes for independence if they go to the ballot box again,” added Hill.
