Bet of the day: Thursday’s racing
Haydock provides our main interest
A seven-race card at Haydock goes as the standout fixture on Thursday’s UK and Irish horse racing schedule, and that’s where we focus our attentions as we go in search of profit to boost your balance in good time for the weekend.
Racing gets started at 2.00pm, and we are confident La Celebs Ville will take all the beating there. Follow our race-by-race selections towards the foot of this page, or read on as we detail our NAP of the card. Click here to place your bets at Coral.
Falcon’s Vision sets the bar
We’ve found a share of the winners so far this season, but Wednesday’s pick, Tribal Conquest, couldn’t live up to expectations, placing third at Thirsk despite going off as favourite. Let’s move on.
We go in hard on the 3.30pm, a novice stakes, dashed over the six furlongs trip. Eight runners are expected to post, and we have Falcon’s Vision marked as the best of the field. Trainer David Simcock puts his trust in Jamie Spencer, and that’s not a bad jockey to rely on. We’re hoping it makes for a winning team at the conclusion of this race.
Spencer will get the best out of her
The selection boasts some impressive breeding, and the two-year-old filly got off to a decent enough start, finishing fourth on debut at Doncaster last month. In a race won by the favourite, Natural, Falcon’s Vision gave plenty of encouragement, ending no more than three lengths off the short-price jolly. Seen pushing hard for the line, she was making ground on the major places, and would’ve learned much from the experience.
That was over a similar trip to the one in front of her on Thursday, but conditions underfoot here will be a lot more to her liking, which is promising. If we get the improvement we are expecting from the NAP then she will have a major say at the business end, and we’re happy to have a go. Spencer is sure to get every bit of improvement out of her.
