Women’s football on the rise
The appetite for women’s football appears to be constantly on the rise. Figures published in UEFA’s official review of the 2013 Euros in Sweden state that a massive 133 million viewers tuned in over the course of the competition – over double the figure than that for the 2009 championships.
The final, played between Norway and Germany, racked up an impressive 15.9 million viewers, a 59% increase on the figures for the final in Finland four years previous.
Those viewer numbers are expected to increase again this summer, with both England and Scotland involved in the finals and the former given a slight chance at the odds to come away victorious.
