Bet of the Day: Back Everton to make Man City toil
Toffees boast impressive Etihad record
Monday night football makes its season debut tonight when Manchester City play their first home game of the campaign. But Everton are the visitors and that has often meant a difficult encounter for the Citizens.
And given that the Toffees have splashed the cash this summer like never before, there’s a good chance Ronald Koeman’s side can deny Pep Guardiola’s three points once again.
Granted, City have been busy this summer too, signing a whole host of quality players, but Everton have lost just three of their last 11 league visits to the Etihad.
And with that in mind, Coral’s bet of the day is Everton or Draw Double Chance at 23/10.
Everton’s Etihad exploits
Everton’s record at Man City since 2007 reads P10, W4, D3, L3, and though the hosts have improved their form in recent years, they still come unstuck against the Toffees.
The last two meetings have ended all-square, and as both teams continue to settle into their new-look line-ups, another draw appeals at 4/1.
And with all four of Everton’s matches this season (including their Europa League qualifiers) seeing two or fewer goals, the draw and under 2.5 goals is available with Coral at 11/2, while 1-1 is 9/1.
Rooney or Aguero?
For all of his efforts down the years, Sergio Aguero’s record against Everton isn’t that good. In fact, he’s scored just three times against the Toffees.
But in Wayne Rooney, Everton have a striker who knows how to get past the Citizens.
The 31-year-old has scored 11 against City, and has only scored more versus Arsenal when it comes to the traditional top-six sides.
And with Everton offering all of the value tonight, Coral’s 3/1 on Rooney anytime must be given consideration.
