Bet of the Day: Everton to keep it tight with victory in Split
Toffees to maintain good start to the season
Everton continue their Europa League campaign tonight with a trip to Croatia to face Hajduk Split. The Toffees are already 2-0 up from the first-leg and look well placed to build on that while maintaining their current defensive solidity.
Ronald Koeman may make changes for the second leg, but given Everton’s strength in-depth following a summer of impressive recruitment, that shouldn’t make much difference.
In the Europa League so far the Blues have won all three of their games to nil. Add in a 1-1 draw and a 1-0 win in the Premier League and it’s clear that the Merseysiders like to keep it tight.
Taking all of that into account, Coral’s bet of the day is Everton to Win and Under 3.5 Goals at 9/5.
Everton in Europe
It has been a solid return to European competition after four years away for the Toffees.
Koeman’s Blues have won all three of their games so far without conceding a goal and you can get 13/5 on the Mersey outfit keeping a clean sheet again tonight.
The tight nature of their games has also meant that when Everton have won, they haven’t won by much. On offer at 6/1, a 1-0 Toffees away win certainly makes appeal.
Sigurdsson to get off the mark?
Signed on Sunday evening for a club record £45m, Gylfi Sigurdsson is expected to feature, if not start against Split.
The Icelandic midfielder showed some nice touches against Manchester City on Monday night following his move from Swansea and will be looking to open his account for his new club on the European stage.
If Everton get a free-kick in a dangerous position this evening the 23/20 on Sigurdsson to score anytime could start to look generous, indeed.
