US Open Previews: Nadal looks to continue incredible 2017 revival

| 06.09.2017

Meanwhile Del Potro hunts first Semi since 2013

The US Open Quarter-Finals are in full flow right now. In the Men’s singles, South African Kevin Anderson has secured his first ever Semi-Final appearance at a Grand Slam. Meanwhile, the Women’s event saw Venus Williams upset the odds to beat Petra Kvitova.

Two Quarter-Final ties remain in both draws, and Coral News are here to preview the action coming your way from Flushing Meadows in the next 24 hours.

Men’s singles:

Rafael Nadal v Andrey Rublev (Wednesday, 21:00 BST)

The old master faces the young prodigy for the first time at Flushing Meadows tonight. Nadal poses an extremely tough test for the 19-year-old, with the Spaniard’s incredible resurgence in 2017 leading to a French Open title and an Australian Open Final appearance.

As for Rublev, this is his first appearance beyond the Second Round of any senior Grand Slam event. While the young Russian should be applauded for getting this far, this is almost certainly the end of the line for him in this tournament.

Top Bet: Set Betting – Nadal 3-0 @ 4/7

Roger Federer v Juan Martin Del Potro (Thursday, 02:00 BST)

Much like Nadal, the Swiss maestro is enjoying a spectacular return to form in 2017, winning the Australian Open, before seeing off Marin Cilic in three sets at the Wimbledon final.

However, in Del Potro, the veteran faces an opponent who has beaten him three times in the last six meetings, with all of those victories coming on hard court – the same surface as Flushing Meadows. Yes, fitness has been an issue for him, but the value still looks to be with the outsider in Queens.

Top Bet: Del Potro to win @ 7/2

Women’s singles:

Karolina Pliskova v CoCo Vandeweghe (Wednesday, 17:00 BST)

Pliskova demolished American Jennifer Brady in her Round of 16 game, winning 6-1, 6-0. However, her clash with Vandeweghe will prove much more competitive. Of the pair’s four prior meetings, each player has won two.

However, Pliskova’s far-superior record at this venue means she’s likely to edge this encounter. The Czech reached the Final in 2016, while Vandeweghe’s best performance in Queens before this year was a Second Round finish.

Top Bet: Pliskova to win @ 4/7

Madison Keys v Kaia Kanepi (Thursday, 00:00 BST)

The 32-year-old Estonian has never gone beyond the last eight at a Grand Slam, but this could be her best chance yet. Keys exited both the French Open and Wimbledon in the Second Round, and has been somewhat fortunate to reach this stage.

As for Kanepi, her Fourth Round victory in straight sets over Daria Kasatkina showed a player enjoying some of the best form of her career. Coral News think this will be a close-run thing, but that the Estonian could just about edge it.

Top Bet: Set Betting – Kanepi 2-1 @ 6/1
