Bet of the Day: No holiday in Tenerife for Espanyol

| 26.10.2017

Copa del Rey upset likely

Espanyol travel to the Canary Islands on Thursday to take on Tenerife in the first leg of the Copa del Rey quarter-final.

The La Liga 2 side are favourites to win this leg of the tie. And that’s mostly down to the fact that Espanyol have only just played on Monday night.

The Catalan outfit held Real Sociedad to a 1-1 draw in San Sebastian that night and will face another long flight south to the Canaries.

Quique Sanches Flores will likely rotate heavily for this game, including a number of younger players with little experience.

The Barcelona-based club are in the midst of a poor run away from home too, failing to win on their travels since the final game of last season.

Conversely, Tenerife are unbeaten at Estadio Heliodoro Rodríguez López in five games this term. Chicharreros have won three and drew two of that quintet.

Tenerife look value for the win and are Coral’s Bet of the Day at 27/20.

Low-scoring affair likely

With Sanchez Flores rotating his squad, his instructions will likely be to keep it as tight as possible.

There’s a second leg to come back in Catalonia in which Periquitos will be favourites to progress, even if they’re behind on aggregate.

Of their three home wins this season, Tenerife have kept a clean sheet in each game.

Espanyol have scored just twice in seven away games in all competitions.

Tenerife to win and Under 2.5 Goals at 7/2 is a bet the Coral News Team can get behind.

Tenerife to lead from the front

The Canary Islanders are averaging their first goal at home just before half-time.

Of their 10 strikes in five home games, 37.5% of them have come in the 60-75 minute time bracket.

That would leave you to believe that Tenerife like getting ahead, then consolidating that lead with a relatively late goal.

Backing them to win in Half-Time/Full-time market is 3/1 that’s another bet to consider.
