Golden State Warriors are clear favourites to retain the title

It’s happened again. The Golden State Warriors’ win against the Houston Rockets on Sunday set up a meeting with the Cleveland Caveliers in the NBA Finals for the fourth consecutive year.

The Warriors have won the title in two of the previous three seasons, with the Cavs securing victory in the other.

This time around, the Warriors are huge 1/10 favourites to emerge triumphant. The Cavs are out at 13/2.

Warrior Strength

It’s not too hard to see why the odds favour the West Coast francishe. The Warriors can call on Steph Curry’s sensational shooting, as well as the likes of Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green. It’s an incredible array of talent.

They’ve also got a relentless will to win. Many sides would have buckled in Game 7 against the Rockets. Steve Kerr’s side were 11 points down going into the half-time break. They were on the verge of defeat but managed to dig deep and turn things around.

That combination of ability and attitude makes them a fearsome team.

The LeBron Factor

There is one key factor that could inspire the Cavs to a surprise victory – LeBron James.

This may be the 33-year-old’s last season with his hometown franchise. And if it is, he is determined to leave them at the top.

The 14-time All-Star led the Eastern Conference Finals in total points, rebounds and assists for the third time in his career. The only other player to achieve that feat in a single season is Larry Bird back in 1984.

If LeBron can maintain his form and the rest of the team step up, they could just do it.
