Europa League Tips: Leverkusen, Rangers and Real Betis feature
Odds and look-ahead to tonight’s UEL action
The Europa League group stage continues to gather pace tonight, with Matchday Three on the horizon.
That includes a tricky away test for Arsenal at Sporting, with the Gunners eyeing up an 11th straight win. We’ve got a Big Match Breakdown on that game here.
But that’s just one of a host of top clashes tonight, and we’ve picked out some top tips on four of the other big games below – beginning with Bayer Leverkusen’s trip to Switzerland…
FC Zurich v Bayer Leverkusen
Leverkusen have been involved in some cracking games of late, with six of their last nine fixtures producing four or more goals.
That streak of goal-filled games looks likely to continue as they visit an FC Zurich whose last two matches have ended 2-2 and 3-3.
We make it 15/8 for Over 3.5 Goals in the game, while Leverkusen to Win and Both Teams to Score is 5/2.
Die Werkself have Kai Havertz in sparkling form. He’s scored three in the first two UEL group games, and is 11/5 to net again. Meanwhile, a 3-2 victory for Leverkusen is 22/1. That’d be their third win by this scoreline since the start of May.
Rangers v Spartak Moscow
Steven Gerrard’s Gers head into this game in impressive form. They’ve won each of their last three matches, with a pair of 3-1 victories followed up by Sunday’s 4-1 mauling of Hamilton Academical.
Spartak pose a rather tougher test than the Accies, but aren’t at the peak of their powers right now. They’ve shipped eight goals in their last three fixtures, losing 3-2 at home to relegation-battling Arsenal Tula on Saturday.
It’s 11/10 for a Rangers win, while there’s a more ambitious 5/1 on a Gers victory with Over 3.5 Goals.
Alfredo Morelos struck again at the weekend, and is 6/4 to Score Anytime here. For the visitors, Cape Verde international Ze Luis at 17/10 is their most likely goal-getter.
Chelsea v BATE Borisov
When BATE lose in Europe, they tend to take a battering. They’ve lost three of their last five UEL games, including a 6-0 thumping at Arsenal and a 4-1 home loss to PAOK.
The Blues are 1/7 to simply win, while the Chelsea -2 handicap is a 23/20 shot.
With Eden Hazard unavailable, Maurizio Sarri could look to Pedro as his main goal threat. The Spaniard has three Premier League goals to his name this term, and is 5/4 to start his European tally.
If he’s on song, that could be good news for backers of Chelsea to Win Both Halves at 21/20.
AC Milan v Real Betis
Milan are currently sat a disappointing 12th in Serie A, and could struggle to see off a Betis side who’ve proved hard to break down.
Los Verdiblancos have lost just two of their last 10 games, and racked up seven clean sheets in the process.
In the betting, it’s 10/11 for Double Chance: Betis or Draw, while victory for Quique Setien’s men is a 13/4 shot.
A high-scoring game looks unlikely, with 4/5 for Under 2.5 Goals. With goals at a premium, visiting forward Loren Moron could play a vital part. He’s netted the opener in two of Betis’ last five games, and is 13/2 to break the deadlock again.
