Chelsea still favourites for Europa League title
Published:Sarri’s men to shake the blues with European glory?
Chelsea may be in a bit of slump right now, but we have the Blues at 4/1 favourites to lift the Europa League trophy this season.
Mauricio Sarri is going through a tough spell in his first season in charge, having been trounced 6-0 by Manchester City and then dispatched 2-0 by Manchester United on Monday.
But the 2013 Europa League winners still remain the team to beat in this season’s competition.
Napoli are second in the running at 9/2. Gli Azzuri are 3-1 up in their last-32 tie against FC Zurich and will be a danger.
Chelsea’s Premier League rivals Arsenal are third favourites at 6/1 and could go the distance too.
Coral’s John Hill said: “Chelsea and Arsenal would much rather be competing in the Champions League.
But the betting suggests they both have a fantastic chance of adding some European silverware this season in the Europa League as they are the leading runners along with Napoli.”
Chelsea are 1/4 to see off Malmo with a win tomorrow night. It could be that the Europa League becomes increasingly vital to qualifying for next seasons Champions League.
