Betting preview and odds for FA Cup clash

An FA Cup Final place is up for grabs this evening as Manchester City meet Brighton & Hove Albion.

Manchester City are hoping to grab another trophy, following their League Cup success in February.

But for Brighton this is the first time they’ve reached this stage of the competition since they made the final in 1983.

Can the Seagulls mess up City’s quadruple charge? Watch the action unfold on BBC One from 5.30pm.

Head-to-Head

City have three wins in their last three games over today’s opponents. A goal apiece from Raheem Sterling and Sergio Aguero was enough to ease to a 2-0 victory in the league meeting earlier in the season.

Brighton’s last victory over the Citizens came in 2008 League Cup second round. Glenn Murray and Joe Anyinsah scored in the 2-2 draw, before keeper Michael Kuipers was the hero in a 5-3 penalty shoot-out victory.

Likely XIs

Pep Guardiola will have to make some tough decisions after making no guarantees that fit-again Benjamin Mendy will make the starting eleven.

It may fall to Danilo to play at left-back, with versatile Oleksandr Zinchenko suffering a hamstring injury against Cardiff City in midweek.

We should expect Sergio Aguero to replace Gabriel Jesus in attack, with Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva buzzing around him.

Chris Hughton only has Pascal Gross as a confirmed absentee ahead of the clash. He could set-up like-for-like in a 4-3-3 formation.

Solly March and Jurgen Locadia could both come back into contention, but will face competition from Alireza Jahanbakhsh and Anthony Knockaert.

Key Battles

As always the midfield battle will be key to the outcome of this game. When fit, Fernandinho has arguably been City’s player of the season so far and will likely be joined by Kevin de Bruyne and David Silva.

While Guardiola has the guile in the middle, Brighton will probably field a blend of grit and graft in the form of Yves Bissouma, Dale Stephens and Davy Propper.

Seagulls defenders Shane Duffy and Lewis Dunk have been the bedrock of Brighton’s side for years now.

The pair will have to turn in another colossal performance to keep out a side that have netted 83 league goals this season.

Match Odds

Man City are 4/1 to win the quadruple this season and can be found at a short 1/8 to win and advance to the final.

But as we’ve seen in recent years these types of games don’t always go to form. City lost to Wigan Athletic in the 2013 FA Cup final in extra time.

If Brighton can stay in the game, then they’re 14/1 to qualify for the showpiece in May.

In Murray, the Seagulls have a proven goalscorer, he’s 4/1 to bag anytime. Both teams to score is 9/5.

Penalties could come into play here, Man City are 25/1 to win on spot kicks, while Brighton are at 28s to hold their nerve in a shootout.
