Jamie Spencer thinks a mile-and-a-half will be no problem for Even Song at Ascot

| 15.10.2016

Coral horse racing ambassador Jamie Spencer spoke exclusively to us about his British Champions Day mounts at Ascot. Here, he marks your card with his rides and fancies for the big finale to the flat season… It’s only thirteen days since Order Of St George had quite a hard race in the Arc but he is the form choice. The ground should be perfect for him. He should win but he’s probably not as ... more...

Jamie Spencer thinks his big race mount will be hard to beat

Coral horse racing ambassador Jamie Spencer talks through his Newmarket rides on Saturday, as the flat season soon draws to a close. Newmarket rides on Saturday On Saturday, I ride Sweet Dragon Fly in the first race at Newmarket. She’s got a good bit to find on the ratings. This is her last run before she goes to America and it looks a good spot to try and get some black type for her. Parsnip is m... more...

Jamie Spencer hoping Sole Power can bounce back to winning ways

I ride Delve in the first at 2.00 at Ascot. She looks to have plenty to find on form so far. I presume they are black type hunting. I’ll just have to see as I haven’t ridden her before. It’s a competitive race and there are probably lots of horses running just to try and sneak a bit of black type at the end of the season. In the second at 2.30, the Cumberland Lodge, I ride Arab Spring. He’ll... Vi... more...

Jamie Spencer hopes his Queen can rule Lady at Newmarket

I ride Forever Excel in the first at Newmarket at 1.50 for Charlie Hills. She’s ready to start but it will be a watching brief for her. In the Royal Lodge at 2.20 I haven’t a ride but I thought Douglas Macarthur was a bit disappointing at Leopardstown last time. He seemed to have every chance. Maybe making the running didn’t suit him. Hugo Palmer’s horse Best Of Days looks to be the big danger to ... more...

Jamie Spencer on his two big race rides tonight at Woodbine on ATR

| 17.09.2016

It’s been a good season, numerically particularly, and I have half an eye on reaching a century of winners. I would need to be in the 90s by the end of September and then take it from there. I have Melbourne Cup and possibly the Breeders Cup to go to. Then I’ll probably tip away on the all- weather until the end of November, and then have all of December off. I land in Toronto today at 11am Canadi... more...

Jamie Spencer harbours high hopes for Master at Donnie

Nemoralia was disappointing yesterday. She just didn’t fire, and was beaten at halfway. It was too bad to be true. We will just have to see if anything comes to light. I start today with a ride on Grey Britain for John Ryan in the 2.00. I don’t know much about him. He ran OK in the Gimcrack and finished fifth. Obviously this is a strong race and I was really impressed with Rivet last t... more...

Jamie Spencer isn’t curbing his enthusiasm for Nemoralia

| 09.09.2016

In the first tomorrow at 1.55 I’m riding Nemoralia. The plan is to run in this and then go for the Shadwell Mile on the 8th October at Keeneland. That race fits well for the Breeders Cup. Tepin runs in the Woodbine Mile before heading for California, so the Shadwell Mile will be ideal for Nemoralia. I think she’s out of the top drawer. She has a great turn of foot. A mile will suit her best but sh... more...

Jamie Spencer expects Carnachy to relish extra Park Hill distance

| 08.09.2016

I start off with Island Vision in the first at Doncaster at 1.55. She was a little disappointing last time at Newcastle. She had looked an improving filly up until that run, and I don’t know whether it was the Tapeta surface or something else, but she didn’t run to the level we thought she’d run to. So it’s a back to the drawing board type of race. She’s been dropped ... more...

Jamie Spencer’s has high hopes for Shakopee at Haydock

On the riding front my trip to Japan for the World All-Star Jockeys event in Sapporo last weekend wasn’t very exciting. I just didn’t draw any good horses. When you’re looking up at the screen and they’re all 99/1 you know what little chance you’ve got. But it was a great experience, number one to be meeting and riding against all those different jockeys, and number two to witness how smoothly the... more...

Jamie Spencer: “My horse may be big odds but Kevin Ryan is very sweet on him”

| 20.08.2016

I’m flying straight back from Salisbury after evening racing to York for Saturday’s rides. I ride in the last race and it’s then 7 miles to the plane so I should be on it by just after half past eight, and should be back in York by quarter to ten, so it’s grand. I ride Fallen For A Star in the first race at 1.45. He’s a very nice horse. He’s a little bit tricky in that he plays around... View Arti... more...
