CORAL ENHANCED ACCAS

Coral ambassador previews Coral-Eclipse Day at Sandown

Sandown 13.50 – Tinto

It’s an unusual Sunday, with the Coral-Eclipse taking place, but it’s another great day to be part of, and I begin on Tinto in the Coral Charge, a race I won three years ago on the brilliant Battaash.

I don’t think there’s another Battaash in the field this year, but I won on Tinto two starts ago at Newmarket on fast ground, before he ran mid division in the Wokingham last time.  He goes on any ground and could run OK here.

Sandown 15.00 – Montatham

Montatham was another Newmarket winner for me last month, he then went on to finish second in the Royal Hunt Cup. He’s better off at the weights with the Ascot winner, Dark Vision, here so I’d like to think we can turn that form around here.

Sandown 15.35 – Regal Reality

Regal Reality finished third in the Coral-Eclipse twelve months ago, and a repeat of that would be fantastic, as it’s a really strong field, and obviously it’s going to be tough to beat Enable and Ghaiyyath.

It will be an interesting race to ride in, if Ghaiyyath gets loose on the front end, over this trip he could be hard to peg back, even for a mare as good as Enable. For me, I’ll be trying to nick a place, that would be great.

Sandown 16.35 – Alemagna

First time on this David Simcock-trained filly, and it’s her first start of the season. She showed some form last year, but this is a competitive little race and I’m sure she’ll improve on whatever she does here against some race fit rivals.

Sandown 17.10 – Eshaasy

My final ride of the weekend is Eshaasy for the boss. He ran OK in the Britannia, a race I won well on Khaloosy, and we’ve always thought he was a nice sort, winning well at Kempton last year. The ground at Ascot was probably a bit soft for him, and he pulled quite hard that day too, so hopefully we can get him back on track here.

Jim Crowley

Jim Crowley began his flat racing career as an amateur before switching to National Hunt racing, where he landed approximately 300 winners. He then returned to the flat to ride for sister-in-law Amanda Perrett. After years of hard work, Jim was finally rewarded when we won the 2016 Stobart Flat Jockey Championship with an incredible 148 winners. That was followed by a lucrative retained partnership with leading owner Sheikh Hamdan al-Maktoum, for whom he is the no.1 jockey. Now, the reigning Champion Jockey gives you an exclusive insight into all of his big rides for the 2017 season, courtesy of Coral.
