Jim Crowley: “We can turn Montatham’s Ascot form around here”

Coral ambassador previews Coral-Eclipse Day at Sandown Sandown 13.50 – Tinto It’s an unusual Sunday, with the Coral-Eclipse taking place, but it’s another great day to be part of, and I begin on Tinto in the Coral Charge, a race I won three years ago on the brilliant Battaash. I don’t think there’s another Battaash in the field this year, but I won on Tinto two starts ago at Newmarket on fas... more...

Jim Crowley: “Tinandali is the type that David O’Meara does so well with”

Coral ambassador previews his rides on a huge day of racing at Epsom Epsom 13.50 – Mutazawwed It really is a sensational weekend, with the Derby and Oaks followed by the Coral-Eclipse, and it’s great to be involved in both days. I get underway on Mutazawwed, who I haven’t ridden in either of his two starts, but he improved from his debut run to win nicely at Lingfield last time, and I’d like to th... more...

Jim Crowley: “This is a great opportunity for Regal Reality to get his head in front”

Our man looks back on the first two days at Royal Ascot and ahead to Thursday’s rides I knew I had a strong book of rides going into the first day and it was great to start off with a winner. I fancied Motakhayyel but we had a few runners in the race and it was important that I chose the right one. It was down to me to choose and when I saw Daarik going off the 3/1 favourite,... Jim Crowley: “The handicapper hasn’t missed Maydanny but I think he can run well”

Coral ambassador previews his Wednesday rides at Royal Ascot Ascot 13:15 – Maydanny Day Two of this year’s Royal meeting begins with a new addition, the Silver Hunt Cup, and I have a nice ride in Maydanny. He’s a beautifully bred half-brother to Elarqam, still very lightly raced, and that could be the only inconvenience going into a big field handicap like this on just his fourth start. But ... more...

Jim Crowley: “I hope Battaash can make it third time lucky, he deserves it”

Coral ambassador previews his Tuesday rides at Royal Ascot Ascot 13.15 – Motakhayyel It’s obviously going to be a very different Royal meeting this year, with an extra six races over the five days, and of course no crowds. When we’re out on the track we are so focused on the job in hand we don’t really notice the lack of spectators in the stands, but at a meeting as big as this it might be more no... more...

Jim Crowley: “I think Moyassar has a right good chance”

Coral ambassador looks ahead to Sunday ride’s and Royal Ascot Goodwood rides 12.00 – Asiaaf It will be interesting to see how Shatha runs on Saturday as she finished 4th to her on debut last week. I like this filly. She ran very green on debut from a wide draw and I’m expecting a big improvement from her. I think she’ll go very close. 13.10 – Sayifyouwill She’s a two year old havi... more...

Jim Crowley: “Tabarrak’s a legend and won’t go down without a fight”

Coral ambassador previews his Saturday rides Newbury rides 12.15 – Turaath I think they quietly fancied her at Leicester but she ran disappointingly. However, Leicester can be a funny track and she didn’t get into the race at all. She’s been going nicely at home, and with a winter on her back, hopefully she can take a big step forward. 13.15 – Mercury Dime This is his first run on turf... more...

Jim Crowley: “Al Madhar is my standout ride on the night”

Coral ambassador looks back on last week and previews Friday’s rides I was disappointed with Al Aasy and Fayleq last weekend, but Fayleq ran too keen and we are going to drop back in trip so I’m not too worried about him. On the flip side Tinto won well and we nicked a win on Silent Echo on the Friday and then Montatham won well on the Saturday and he could go for Royal Ascot. The midweek has gone... more...

Jim Crowley: “Motagally must come here with a great chance”

Coral ambassador previews Sunday’s rides at Newmarket Newmarket 13.15 – Haseef  I haven’t had a chance to sit on this one at home yet, so we’ll know much more after this debut run, as with so many runners right now! Newmarket 13.50 – Faylaq Faylaq is one of the best-bred horses in training – by Dubawi out of Danedream – and he just didn’t show what I thought he was capable of last year. I still re... more...

Jim Crowley: “I think Montatham comes here with a good chance”

Coral ambassador previews his rides on 2,000 Guineas day at Newmarket Newmarket 15.00 – Al Aasy I start 2,000 Guineas day on Al Aasy, who had the one run last year, at the back end of the season here at Newmarket. The ground was probably just on the soft side for him that day, but he still ran a lovely race full of promise. He’s by the great Sea The Stars, has been working well, and is a horse we ... more...
