Breeders’ Cup 2016 latest On Tuesday the European horses emerged from the quarantine barn for the first time after 48 hours being stuck in their stables, and several of them had a spin on what is a new Santa Anita turf surface. The old turf surface was a combination of Rye and Bermuda Grass but, after years of hot summers and wet winters, it had deteriorated to the point that it had to be re... more...

| 03.11.2016

Everyone will be able to recall places they have visited where they could just sit and stare at the view for hours and never get bored of it. Sitting in the outdoor press box at Santa Anita is one of those places. This is the seventh time I’ve been fortunate enough to attend a Breeders’ Cup at this venue and it still takes my breath away. As we approached the track this morning, Chris McGrath, one... more...

Pat Smullen is a multiple champion jockey in Ireland and has won many of the biggest races in the world, yet this week he would not dream of being anywhere else than Galway. The unique and mildly chaotic seven-days of racing on Ireland’s west coast is unmatched anywhere in the world and along with Galway-loving boss Dermot Weld, Smullen is likely to find himself in the winner’s enclosure several t... more...

Luke Morris thinks this filly will show her speed at Newcastle this weekend…

| 23.07.2016

The King George normally marks about halfway through the season and I hope the second half of the year goes as well as the first, starting with some winners this weekend and at Goodwood next week. As I said last week, it’s important to try and ride good winners as well to go get my first Royal Ascot winner was a major plus, while Mrs Danvers winning the Super Sprint last week was fantastic too. Sh... more...

Jamie Spencer says Taurean Star has a good chance of winning

| 23.07.2016

My first ride on a busy day today is Alcazar in the 2.10 at Ascot. He won well at Newcastle last time. I don’t think he was suited by the surface and I’m hoping to see even better on the faster ground today. I think you’ll see a better horse today but it’s a much deeper, stronger race. It would be great if we got placed. I wouldn’t be expecting much more than that on what he’s done so far.... View... more...

Luke Morris thinks this unbeaten filly has a great chance at Newbury on Saturday

| 16.07.2016

Riding Saturday and big-race winners is what matters most to jockeys so to grab a double at York last weekend with Marsha taking the Listed race was highly satisfying. We’ve always liked Marsha and I’ve mentioned our high opinion of her several times in my blog so it was brilliant to see her produce what we know she can on the course the last twice. It was a very strong Listed race and the time wa... more...
