Tom Scudamore: “I’m expecting a big run from Remastered”
Coral ambassador previews this weekend’s rides
I was in the wars on Thursday at Wincanton when I took a nasty blow to the face by my mount in the novice hurdle race on the card. There was only ever going to be one winner there, so I received a nasty cut below my right eye.
Thankfully there was no concussion, so I was cleared to rider later on the card after a couple of stitches. These things happen in National Hunt racing. I am sure I will have a black eye for a few days but otherwise no further damage was done.
The Dublin Racing Festival takes place this weekend and it goes to show how strong the yards are in Ireland. I think this Festival is fantastic as it keeps them over there and stops them winning our races.
It is a long way to go for the British-based horses so unless you have a horse which you would be confident would have a great chance, it is easy to see why so many British trainers have decided against it.
15.00 Sandown – Remastered
He ran really well at Chepstow last time out over 3m where he was just beaten there by the Coral Welsh Grand National winner Potters Corner. He is a bigger price here than I thought he would be. The form of that race has worked out really well as the fourth has come out and won since then. I am expecting a big run here.
13.35 Taunton – Bretney
He finished down the field in one bumper appearance so far. I have not sat on him before. Being from Henry De Bromhead’s yard and a Trevor Hemmings owned horse, I am sure he will make for a nice chaser in the future.
14.05 Taunton – Hereia
This horse ran well at Cheltenham two starts ago. The ground was too soft for him last time at Sandown. Hopefully the ground will be on the Good side here which will help his chances of bouncing back.
15.10 Taunton – Frau Georgia
He finished second in a bumper on his debut at Warwick but has been disappointing since then. This looks to be a hot race so she will have to improve.
