Spurs striker 2/1 to break Alan Shearer’s record

After notching his 150th Premier League goal against West Bromwich Albion on Sunday, Harry Kane is 2/1 to become the Premier League’s all-time record goalscorer.

The 27-year-old’s 88th minute winner at The Hawthorns meant Kane became only the 10th player in Premier League history to reach the landmark of 150 goals in England’s top flight.

Coral ambassador Alan Shearer is the current record goalscorer in the Premier League with 260 goals across his illustrious career.

Tottenham Hotspur captain Kane now needs only 111 more goals to sit top of the goalscoring charts, and with plenty still left in the tank, he could overtake Shearer’s record in years to come should he stay fit.

Shearer’s career came to an end at the age of 35, and if Kane is fortunate enough to continue at the highest level for another eight years, he’d need to average 14 goals a season to overtake Newcastle’s famous number nine to stand alone as the all-time leading goalscorer.

Should Kane continue with his average of 21 goals a season over the last three campaigns, we could see the Spurs forward rise to the top of the charts during the 2024/25 season at the age of 32.

Reaching the latest landmark in just 218 matches, Kane’s most prolific Premier League campaign came in the 2017/18 season despite missing out on a third consecutive Golden Boot, where the Spurs frontman scored an astonishing 30 goals in 37 matches.

Since his first full season in a Spurs shirt back in the 2014/15 campaign, Kane has scored 15 or more goals every season, including four consecutive seasons scoring 20 or more.

With seven goals and eight assists in just eight Premier League appearances so far this season and reaching the peak of his career at the age of 27, we could see Kane go on to have the most prolific season of his career.

Kane has scored his 150 Premier League goals from 817 shots taken, with 367 on target. Most of the Spurs strikers’ goals so far have come from his right foot (92), including 22 penalties, while he’s managed 33 on his weaker left foot plus 24 headers.

“Harry Kane is a goalscoring machine and now that 150 is up it will be full steam ahead to Shearer’s record. He’s 2/1 to break it and be the top Premier League marksman,” said Coral’s Harry Aitkenhead.
