Preview and odds for Sunday’s best matches

There are some big matches across the continent this weekend and we’re focusing on the best game in each of the top four competitions on Sunday for our European football betting tips.

La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A and Ligue 1 all feature in our preview in which we analyse some of the wide range of betting odds available.

Real Madrid v Sevilla

Real Madrid were denied a place in the Champions League final by Chelsea on Wednesday and Zinedine Zidane is now under pressure to win La Liga.

With the top two facing each other this weekend, third-placed Real have the chance to gain ground and they are unbeaten since January but goalless draws with Getafe and Real Betis in the last four games may prove costly.

They are evens to do the double over Sevilla and 7/4 for a fifth successive clean sheet but Sevilla are only four points behind them and had won seven out of eight before Monday’s 1-0 loss at home to Athletic Bilbao.

Sevilla are 11/4 to further compound Real’s misery with an away win and 4/5 to avoid defeat – something they have failed to do here since 2008.

Frankfurt v Mainz

Frankfurt start the weekend in the Champions League places but have Borussia Dortmund breathing down their necks after losing their two away games against Borussia Monchengladbach (4-0) and Bayer Leverkusen (3-1).

They are back on home soil on Sunday at least where they are unbeaten and have enjoyed three straight wins, scoring 11 goals in the process, and they are 3/4 for the victory or 11/8 to win and over 2.5 goals.

Mainz had a dismal first half of the season but are much improved and are unbeaten in their last eight games, picking up 18 points in that time including a 2-1 victory over Bayern Munich.

The visitors are evens to extend their unbeaten run and 16/5 for the win.

Juventus v AC Milan

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, AC Milan

These Italian giants signed up to the European Super League which was quickly aborted and are in danger of missing out on next season’s Champions League if they slip up during the last few games.

Juventus and AC Milan are both on 69 points in third and fourth respectively but with Napoli only two points behind and Lazio five back but with a game in hand, a top-four finish is far from certain.

Juventus are the 3/4 favourites to win Sunday’s showdown but have only won half of their last eight games.

All of Milan’s seven Serie A defeats this season have come since the turn of the year, starting with a 3-1 loss at home to Juve and they are 7/2 to gain revenge this weekend.

Rennes v PSG

The last match to feature in our European football betting tips for Sunday is in Ligue 1 where PSG, just like Real Madrid, are hoping to bounce back from their Champions League exit.

PSG’s dominance of French football is under threat and they start the weekend one point behind leaders Lille with three games to go.

They have won four league games in a row to keep the pressure on and are 4/6 to make that five but this is a tricky test, especially if Kylian Mbappe remains sidelined as he was at Manchester City.

Rennes are seventh and in contention for a Europa League place having picked up 16 points from six matches prior to losing 1-0 at Bordeaux last weekend.

The hosts are 4/1 for victory and 6/5 to take points off PSG.
