Lyon v Bayern Munich Betting Tips: Can anyone stop Bayern?

Odds and preview for Champions League semi-final

After crushing Barcelona, Lyon are now all that stand between Bayern Munich and a place in Sunday’s Champions League final.

Bayern were rampant in their 8-2 quarter-final win over Barcelona, playing with a relentlessness that was intimidating as it was impressive.

But having knocked out Juventus and Manchester City already, Lyon are aiming to complete a hat-trick of upsets to go through and face Paris Saint-Germain in an all-French affair. Can they pull it off it again?

Match Odds

After dismantling Barcelona, it’s no surprise that Bayern are overwhelming 1/4 favourites to win in 90 minutes or 1/10 to qualify.

Lyon are 9/1 to win in normal time, or you can get 13/2 on the French side to go through. The draw is priced at 6/1.

If you think Hansi Flick’s side will be as ruthless here as they were in their last outing, you can get 4/5 on Bayern to be ahead at Half-Time and Full-Time, or 6/5 on Bayern to win to nil.

Robert Lewandowski is 7/4 to open the scoring, while Serge Gnabry and Thomas Muller are 11/10 and 6/4 respectively to score at any point.

After coming on to score twice against Man City, Moussa Dembele is 14/5 to net here, with Memphis Depay at 10/3.

With Bayern in their current form, it’s hard to see who can derail them. They’ve won each of their last 19 games and cruised to an eighth consecutive Bundesliga title after the restart.

The Bavarian giants are packed with quality in every area. They can control games with slick passing or hit you on the counter. And if things aren’t going their way, Robert Lewandowski tends to make the most of his chances.

The Pole is on 54 goals for the season, the highest tally of his career to date. He’s scored in each of his last eight Champions League appearances. It would be no surprise if he extended that streak tonight.

The odds are stacked against Lyon, but that hasn’t been a problem for them so far. Manchester City couldn’t live with their speed on the break – and that could give them a chance here.

Memphis Depay

While Bayern were clear and deserved winners against Barcelona, the Spanish side did get behind their high defensive line in the early stages. If Bayern continue to push up, Lyon could exploit that space.

When the underdogs get on the ball Houssem Aouar has the quality to pick out the likes of Memphis Depay and Maxwell Cornet. But how many of those opportunities will they get? David Alaba and Alphonso Davies also have the pace to get back if they’re caught out of position.

It’s hard to see beyond Bayern here, but as we’ve seen, anything can happen in these one-off ties.
